Congratulations to Everyone who made GOC what it is today!!!

Congratulations. You won first place in the 2014 Green Awards, organized by Morris Media Group.

In December you were nominated for a Green Award. On December 15, we turned those nominations over to our judges. The judges: Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., one of the leading environmental players in the country, is chairman of the Waterkeeper Alliance and a professor of environmental law at Pace University School of Law. Michel Nischan, a sustainable-food pioneer, is owner of the Dressing Room restaurant in Westport and president of Wholesome Wave, which supports increased production and access to healthy, fresh, and affordable locally grown food for the well-being of all. And Linda Allard, previously design director of the fashion company Ellen Tracy, is a former board member of The Garden Conservancy and continues to participate in their annual Open Days program, and serves as a board member for the American Ballet Theatre, the Housatonic Valley Association, The Shakespeare Society, Washington Art Association, and Weantinoge Heritage Land Trust, Inc.

We are presenting Green Awards to our three category winners–Greening Our Children, Roni Widmer, and CowPots–as well as to our Honorable Mention winners, at a ceremony on Thursday, February 27, 6 pm to 8 pm, at Artisan at the Delamar Southport, Southport, CT. Additional tickets to the invitation-only wine reception and ceremony are $50 each.

The Honorable Award winners are: New Morning Market in Woodbury, The Westchester Green Business Challenge, Chestnut Hollow Farm in Stratford, the Ethan Allen Hotel in Danbury, Renewable Resources in Stamford, green consultant Heather Burns in Woodbury, Gourganics in Fairfield, Bruce Bennett Nissan in Wilton, New England Smart Energy Group in Fairfield, Trillium Architects in Ridgefield, BPC Green Builders in Wilton, the Housatonic Valley Association in New Milford, and Community Table restaurant in Washington.
